This one here is an updated version of C.P.’s time-honoured Mille Miglia jacket. According to the deep annals of the internet, Massimo Osti first crafted the Mille Miglia jacket during a period of goggle-based experimentation. Whereas the Explorer Jacket had its goggles sewn into the collar, for the Mille Miglia jacket Osti decided to stick them on the hood, akin to the protective hoods he’d seen the Japanese Civil Defense wearing back in 1973. On top of that, Otsi incorporated the mind-melting pocket arrangements that were commonplace on Swiss army field jackets to make one highly-wearable bit of kit. After plenty of tinkering, this design was used to sponsor the 1988 edition of the Mille Miglia car race (an open-road, motorsport endurance race where rich Italian slickster-types would race their old expensive cars); it’s been said that Massimo felt the Mille Miglia best represented his vision of the ideal adventure-jacket.
